Dragon Quest, even if it has less plot dialogue it has emotions, it's easy to pick-up and play, battles are shorter and it spawned what made other jRPGs famous.
I prefer Final Fantasy over Dragon Quest, when it comes to graphics, music, characters, and especially regional track record. Dragon Quest has way more Japan exclusives, and its Western fanbase has to beg for localization. I don't like Mr. Sugiyama's copyright ethics.
